Description

Little flower at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand.

No edit, but I did adjust the white balance to give it a cooler colour hue.

Here's the funny thing about photographing flowers. It's going to be nearly impossible to actually doing something original. That's just God's honest truth. But what you CAN do is find a an interesting flower or interesting setting and do your best to nail the best shot you can, despite the fact that every flower has been photographed a millions times unless it's the Indonesian Corpse Flower (haha).

That being out of the way you rocked this shot. This flower would have been pretty against the sky and clouds... or against a building backdrop of some kind. But you got a background whose colors totally compliment this flower.

And you've got the distance perfect too. Close enough to see some of the neat texture and the lighting, but far enough to not dominate the screen.

If I took this, I would be printing it out (here or mPix) and framing it for my office. Seriously. Very cool.
